AI generated imageTens of thousands of families across the Eastern Province still live in temporary palm-thatched shelters built after the war or the 2004 tsunami. Our campaign focuses on the war-widow families with the least options to improve their housing.
The problem
Temporary structures leak in monsoon rains, offer no protection against floods or storms, and have no safe sanitation. Children cannot study, mothers cannot work, and families remain locked out of basic services that require a permanent address.
Our approach
We build single-storey, two-bedroom, locally-built homes for under £4,500 each. Materials are sourced locally to keep money in the community, and every build is supervised by BUDS-BT and our UK trustees.
